Christmas Caroling Report
Thank you to all of our wonderful carolers for Christmas Eve as the Wisp Ice Skating Rink and Recreation Area! We had several families from Pleasant View and Deep Creek that came to help, along with the Heath’s! While there, we had the opportunity to help people focus on Christ by singing to him. As we sang, “Go Tell it on the Mountain” it actually took on new meaning! We also prepared about 80 hand warmers to pass out to guests. Everyone was very grateful. The hand warmers further spread the message of Christmas with a label that shared, “May Jesus warm your hearts, as this warms your hands. Merry Christmas!”
We are looking forward to possibly being able to do this again next year. So, if you couldn’t help this year, be praying about helping next time! Thanks to all of you who prayed for us as well!!
Feel free to check out our website for pictures of the event! www.deepcreeklrm.org
Doughnut Ministry to the Wisp Employees
Once again, we will be able to provide the employees at the Wisp with doughnuts and juice on Wednesday mornings from January through March. This was a very viable ministry last year as it allowed us to build relationships with the employees and minister in unexpecting ways.
If you are seeking to be a part of an exciting ministry that is not too time consuming, we would love to have you help. We need 1-3 individuals who would work on a rotating schedule throughout the two month period. When it is your Wednesday you just need to be at the Wisp by 8:00 a.m. to help take in doughnuts and juice and talk with employees as they come off a shift or on their shift. You also need to be prayed up and be sensitive to how the Holy Spirit is working as we talk with them. If interested, contact Julie at 301-501-6775.
Mission Team Change for Next Summer
In the past, mission teams coming to serve with DCLRM, have always received prepared meals from us. Starting summer 2011, any mission teams coming to serve will have to provide their own meals. This will not only make the initial cost of coming more affordable, but will help us to focus more on the ministries during the mission trip.
Possible dates to serve in missions this summer:
June 23rd -26th
July 7th- 10th
July 21st-24th
July 28th-31st
August 4th -7th
*We are also currently trying to schedule a couple of teams to serve for a full week during the summer. If interested in any of the above, let me know by February 1st.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
In February, we will be taking care packages again to the Wisp employees on Valentine’s Day Weekend. We will also be passing out hand warmers for Winter Dunk at UNO’s. If your church can help us with collecting the following items, let me know! 301-501-6775
-lip balm hand warmers indiv. packs of tissues
-granola bars hot chocolate
“The harvest in plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38
