Prayer

*Continue to pray for us to see the doors God may open this winter season at the WISP and in other ways.

*Pray that we will begin to hear from church groups interested in going on weekend mission trips this summer here at the lake.

*Pray that God will open doors for us to minister to the Brazilian workers who will be working at the Wisp this season.

*Pray that we will hear from individuals interested in becoming a prayer warrior for us.(more info below)

Praises

*I am so thankful for all of my volunteers and workers from this past year.

*Although we had one door for ministry at the WISP recently closed, I am thankful that God is already   showing us other ministry possibilities there!

*I am also grateful for having our first year completed in the ministry and am excited about what lies ahead in the new year!

WANTED: PRAYER WARRIORS

I am looking for individuals who would like to be prayer warriors for the ministry.  You would be given any urgent, as well as, our monthly prayer requests in order to pray for us.  It would also be a chance to pray for us while our ministries are taking place and to help with planning a spring prayerwalk at the lake.  If anyone feels lead in being a prayer warrior, please let me know!  Thanks.

A Look Back

The past month was a time of renewal and prayer for the ministry.  We found out right before the Christmas break that our proposal for slope ministry and ministry opportunities with the children at the WISP was denied by management.  However, during a quiet time I had one or two days before finding out the proposal was denied, God has already given me a new vision and possibility for ministry there.  I have sent an e-mail to the human resources department in hopes of being a volunteer at the WISP, helping in whatever is most beneficial to them.  I will be contacting them again about this next week, so your prayers are appreciated.  I also spent a lot of time this month around my family and really reflecting on Christ together.  I know this time has helped me to be renewed and strengthened for the new year that lies ahead.

A Look Ahead

During the month of January, Bill and I will begin visiting the Wisp and trying to witness and share Christ by conversing with others on the slopes.  We are going to try to pass out little slope care packages consisting of lip balm, hot chocolate, tissues, and a tract.  Pray for us as we go to be an example of Christ to those we meet.

If you have a group from your church that is looking for a short weekend mission trip and would be interested in helping at the lake this summer, let me know.  I am currently planning weekend trip’s that would go from Friday to Monday morning.

I am also going to be looking for groups interested in possible helping in other ways, such as, with providing materials or making materials for different events throughout the year.  For example, putting together snow slope packets of hot chocolate and lip balm to pass out at the WISP.

We will also need more workers for Autumn Glory next year.  If you have an interested group to help with this event, let me know.  It should be held the second Sat. in October, but I will have the exact date in March.  Anyone who is interested in helping out can let me know, and I can also give you any other information you may need about these opportunities.

My number is (301)501-6775.  Or, email me at deepcreeklrm@gmail.com.

The Bread Basket

Isaiah 40:30-31 (NIV) “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint .”

This is one of my favorite Bible verses. ( I believe it is also one of my mother’s favorite verses.) As we begin a new year of ministry and service to others, I have spent time relaxing, spending more time with family and friends, and more time studying the word.  One verse as come to mind on more than one occasion recently, Isaiah 40:31. Isaiah 40:31 is a message of hope and encouragement.  As we look around us and see the economic hardships surrounding our country, the changes of leadership facing our nation, and more locally, the impact the economy and warmer weather is having on the resort area, it is easy to feel defeated and discouraged.  But…;.God is still in control. And…He still wants us sharing Christ to a dying world now more than ever.  As we encounter others this month, remember that with Christ we can run and not grow weary, walk and not be faint.  Let God be your strength and keep your hope in the LORD!

Praises

*I am so thankful for all of my volunteers and workers from this past year.

*After completing our proposed budget and reviewing the budget from last year it is great to see how God provided for the ministry.

If it were not for many of our churches in the association giving to the ministry we would not be able to do what we do!

*I am also grateful for having our first year completed in the ministry and am excited about what lies ahead in the new year!

*Most importantly, I am grateful beyond words for Christ coming as my Savior and dying on the cross for my sins.  Without this wonderful

Message of hope, our ministry would have no real purpose.

A Look Back

The past month was a time of reflection over the past year and a look ahead at what is to come in the next year.  I was blessed to be able to attend the Annual MD/DE State Convention in November at set up a booth about the Deep Creek Lake Resort Ministry.  It also gave me a time to plan with others about what lies ahead.  I am excited about the ministries that have been started and will continue in the upcoming year: Autumn Glory, Kids Night Out, Campground Ministry, Slip Disc Ministry, and Winter Dunk.  I am also excited about the new ministries we will be starting in God’s time: ministry with the Brazilian workers at the WISP, slope ministry, A Day on the Lake (this summer), and others that God will open up for us.

A Look Ahead

As you read above we have our work cut out for us this year!

The Bread Basket

Matthew 2:10-11 (NIV) “ When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.”

There are several things that I can see in this passage that are of importance. First, the wisemen saw the star and followed it to find the king.  Their response to the situation was obedience.  It also showed a great deal of preparation and sacrifice.  They apparently had studied and knew that the star would lead them to the Christ. The gifts that they brought showed preparation in that it was something of value that they had been saving. Furthermore, they each brought extravagant gifts, or “treasures” as the NIV states.  It was not an afterthought, but something that cost them.  How prepared are we to follow Christ and give Him our treasures this month?  December, provides each one of us many opportunities for worshipping and giving.  Will we be able to give our treasures?  For some of us that may be our time, our money, or using our spiritual gifts.  Are we ready to be obedient and begin to look further into what Christ is trying to show us, and are we prepared to give as we worship the birth of our Lord and Savior this month?

Gratefully His,
